Initiative: Repair Café
The Repair Café is about repairing broken items together and getting professional advice. People meet up and get inspired.
What does it cost? A voluntary donation.
Would you like to join us as a repairer? Are you good with your hands or can you sew? Then get in touch with us! You are very welcome and will be welcomed by a friendly team!
If you have skills in electronics, woodworking, mechanics, sewing, etc., if you can repair things, don't hesitate to contact us to support the Repair Café! You can also help with reception and organisation.
Please note that it is possible that there will be no repairers with expertise in certain areas on the day of the event.
For devices with touchscreens/smartphones, services are generally limited to diagnosis and advice. It is strongly recommended that these devices be repaired by specialist shops that have all the necessary tools and knowledge and can carry out proper repairs.
What do I need to check before I come?
The power supply to the device: Is the indicator light on? Is the battery or are the batteries charged? Is the power cord in good condition?
The maintenance of the appliance: Empty the filters of hairdryers and vacuum cleaners, descale a coffee machine with citric acid or similar, etc.
What do I need to bring with me for the repair?
Think about everything you need to test the item you want to have repaired. For a coffee machine, for example, bring coffee or a capsule. For a DVD player, bring a DVD. For a petrol engine, bring your petrol. Etc., charger, cable, manual if applicable.
For your hi-fi system: remote control, speakers.
For your television: cables used for connection (to receiver, amplifier).
The spare part, if you have already identified the defect.
