Climate Pact Conference
An annual opportunity for citizens to discuss how we can work together to achieve climate resilience
Climate Pact Conference
All for the climate: giving citizens a voice in your municipality
Since May 2022, CELL has been supporting local authorities across the country in setting up the "Assises du pacte climat 2.0", a national programme that involves organising exchanges between civil society and local authorities with a view to developing actions for the ecological transition.
The new Climate Pact 2.0 programme is to bring together citizens, clubs, schools and businesses for a day of exchange once a year: This is an opportunity to discuss the projects that have already been carried out at local or regional level, and to reflect on the actions that need to be developed for the future. And when you know that 98% of carbon emissions in a local authority area come from sources other than the local authority itself (including its buildings and vehicle fleet), it's a good idea to get local players involved in local climate action!
The setting up of Climate Pact Conferences is a new measure that is being strongly encouraged because it enables the local authority's driving forces to be mobilised. Some local authorities and regions have already started to work on organising such a meeting - in the evening, on a Saturday or over a weekend.
Climate Pact Conferences: this is a new measure, launched with Climate Pact 2.0. Measure 6.4.1 states: "Climate and energy planning is the subject of Climate Pact Conferences, organised annually and taking place at municipal or regional level. The municipality will ensure that citizens can actively participate in key planning processes that are of particular interest to them. This applies both to strategic decisions (e.g. the planning of housing estates) and to specific projects (e.g. the transformation of a square or a section of street). "
CELL is working alongside the municipality/region to organise this conference.
